Peyongtaek, South Korea so far..

ISo far, we are loving our house and the area we live in. We have had to do lots for in processing and running errands so we have hardly had any time to relax and get used to our new home. So here's how it's gone so far:

Tuesday:

I had newcomer orientation from 9:00- noon. That was pretty dang boring but I guess a little bit informational. During that time, whoever is in charge of loaner furniture brought us what we needed. We got two dressers, end tables and lamps for our room,  two chairs, sofa, coffee table, end tables and lamps for the living room, a dresser and end table for the extra room upstairs, a desk and TV stand for another room upstairs, bookcase, a dresser and end table for the kids room and a washer and dryer. The dryer was brand new and so were the living room tables. It's nice because we won't really need to buy much for awhile. We will need decorative pillows for the sofa and chairs because they are very hard and don't have much back support. I'm not a fan, but they save us money for sure.

After orientation we went to finances to try to get that all in order and get his pay to reflect command sponsorship. Then we went to DBIDS to get the kids and I in the system. That's where I also got my ID registered so that I can get on post. After that, we were able to ask about our rations card. On this post, we get a rations card to spend at the commissary. For our family, we get $1400/month. Sounds pretty awesome to me! We were told we had to give it 24 hrs before I could get my card though. We had time still before Matt had to go check out of his barracks at 3:00, so we went and got into Tricare overseas. Doing that assigned us and the kids our Dr.'s. We still had a little more time, so we went and got enrolled in dental. We will have our initial screening there, but will go to off post providers for dental after that. Then we headed to the barracks, cleaned them up a little and checked out. On our way home, we stopped at our realtor and paid the rent. Here, you do everything through your real estate agent. Celina has been great! You pay rent and any other bill (electric, gas, water, etc) in cash to the realtor and they take care of it. If there is any problem in the house, we contact her and she takes care of it. It's pretty nice. She had an appointment to come to our place at 4:00, so we saw her a few minutes later. She came over just to make sure the AC/Heating system was labeled for us, She explained their trash system to us and took pics of the things that need fixed. She also made an appointment for a guy to come hook up our washer/dryer on Wednesday. She didn't want Matt doing it. During the times we were home, we un packed and tried to get all the suitcases emptied.

We let the kids run around for a bit and then went to eat at about 6:00. We went to a traditional Korean place and it was really good. I'm a fan of the food so far. Max was so tired though he was falling asleep sitting up, standing up, in Matt's arms.... everything. Poor kid. We brought them home, bathed them and put them to bed. Then we finished getting our room all set up and bags un packed.

Wednesday (today):

Today was a little bit less busy. We all woke up pretty early. Around 6:00. It's going to take quite awhile to get our bodies living in this time zone. Matt was at training, but the kids and I just played for a bit. Matt got back so we all got ready and headed to the Lending Closet and to get my cell phone service set up. Cell phone took about 20 minutes. The Lending Closet is where we can get to get short term loaners like kitchen supplies. We ended up getting quite a bit because it looks like our estimated date of arrival for our house hold goods isn't until October 9th. So, we got some dishes, mixing bowls, baking stuff, pots/pans, cooking utensils, mixer, blender, etc. Then we went and picked up my rations card while Matt took care of some stuff at the transportation office.

We went home and as I started to put things away in the kitchen, I realized how greasy and dirty it was. So, I started scrubbing. We took a break to go to Osan Air Force base to go to the PX (exchange) to get some stuff we knew we would need to buy: microwave, dish set, cleaning rags, dish towels, griddle, bathroom mats and trash cans, some cleaning supplies and things of that nature. We still have quite a bit on our list but will probably just order it from amazon prime. We were luckily also able to find immigration there and get our SOFA stamp (visa) taken care of. It took all of 20 minutes to get the kids and I a visa. That was really convenient.
This is probably 1/3 of the wipes and stuff used to clean the kitchen.

We came home and I finished cleaning the kitchen while Matt put the new stuff away and started laundry, We then went to eat dinner at "Italy pizza." Harper really wanted pizza. It was pretty good though. We brought the kids home, put them to bed, cleaned up a bit and are now relaxing. All my pics are on my phone, so I'm hoping to be able to post them to the blog from there.
Harper really had to pee on the way home and this was the restroom at the gas station.
Waking "the ville" on our way to get pizza.
