Our first venture into Peyongtaek

So, camp humphreys is basically on the outskirts of Peyongtaek.  Matt read somewhere that this is the agricultural area of South Korea, although we aren't positive about that. But, we are surrounded by fields and farming. Downtown is just about 3-5 miles away. The city is considers small at about population 500,000 haha. So, we went into town just to see what it was all about and to get some food of course.

Our first stop was my choice... Happy quilt. I was looking up where to buy fabric and found another blog from a few years ago written by someone living at camp humphreys. She gave perfect directions. I could go crazy in this hidden gem of a store. They have three warehouses full of fabric. I'm not sure if two of them are just storage or if they are all open for shopping. Nonetheless, there was plenty of fabric to choose from for my two projects in the one building. The best part? It was only about $32 for 9.5 yards of fabric.

This is the material I chose. I will post pictures after my projects are finished. I need to find someone with a sewing machine first since mine won't be here for another month or so.

After the fabric store, we went into the city. We went to AK plaza to check it all out. The driving gets crazy. I tried to get a picture of a busy intersection but I couldn't quite capture the craziness. There are stop lights there, but NOBODY pays attention to them.

Once we finally found a parking spot that we are pretty sure wasn't a real parking spot, we had to still get the gps to figure out where to go. Matt actually had to pinpoint the location of our car so that we could get back to it eventually. We walked around a bit and were able to find somewhere to eat that had chicken strips for max and Korean food for Matt and I. Harper is pretty easy and just had pork. I picked something that didn't seem too spicy, but holy crap... It was one of the spiciest dishes I have eaten. I couldn't finish it. So, we had to get dessert after in order to calm down the spice. The dessert= AH-MAZ-ING!! I can't remember what the place was called... Korean dessert something, but it was so good. We learned you can buy one dessert for like 2-4 people. We bought two and couldn't finish them.

Anyway, that was our first experience in a city. Harper's birthday is on Monday so we are heading to Seoul to check out the city and let her choose what she wants to do. I'm sure we will have more pics to come.
